RF (LARGE LEG VEINS)

Have large leg veins that need treatment? Large, ropey, veins in the legs can be associated with leg ulcers and painful swelling. Varicose veins can be treated with a procedure known as radiofrequency ablation (RF surgery). Superficial veins in the leg all drain into the greater saphenous vein. This vein contains valves which direct proper blood flow back to the heart. When these valves no longer work, it can cause leg pain, varicose veins, leg heaviness and fatigue, skin ulcers and swollen lower limbs. Our experts at Modern Dermatology of KY & Cosmetic Specialists can help with Large Leg Vein Treatment.

With a simple ultrasound study, the office of dermatology professionals at Modern Dermatology of KY can determine if the greater saphenous collecting system is defective. This ultrasound takes about 10 minutes. If the vein is defective, an outpatient ablation procedure of the vessel will relieve the problem. This procedure is done without general anesthesia and usually takes 45 minutes to an hour in the office. It is almost always covered by health insurance including Medicare.
