What is contact dermatitis?

It is an itching red eczematous patch that can occur anywhere on the body after exposure to substances in the environment. Contact dermatitis can occur because of an allergic reaction following exposure to items such as poison ivy, clothing dye, fragrances, various metals or cosmetics.
