Seborrheic Keratosis are skin lesions which are benign (non-cancerous) and harmless. They can be skin-colored, yellow, brown or black and have a dull, waxy appearance. They are not contagious. The tendency to have multiple seborrheic keratoses is hereditary. Seborrheic keratoses typically develop during middle-age and later and can appear anywhere on the body. It is often difficult for patients to distinguish between seborrheic keratoses and warts, precancerous skin lesions or suspicious moles. The dermatology professionals at Modern Dermatology of KY can evaluate your skin lesions and determine if any lesions are suspicious and will perform a biopsy if needed.
